When I was 12, at mines there was a young weekly magazine called "Ciao 2001", that it would last until the end of the '70's. Then, it was '69, I red for the first time on Stones, Beatles and something more articles, and "leight italian music!", Some years after, the Italian TV was be transmitting, on Saturday afternoon, 20' dedicated to Young musical world, and I was waitring for a week to see, proper there, some of my idols, which was playing on my discs, of course. Every day the Radio, but Saturday and Sunday, it was doing "Hit Parade", presented by Lelio Luttazzi, I remember!: Italian and international hits; this on 13:00 pm since 13:30 pm. On afternoon, there was transmitted, always on the radio, "Per voi giovani" ("For you Young"), world and local pop/rock News... It was, for several times there, that I heard for the first time Pink Floyd, Jefferson Airplane and more... David Bowie, EL&P, Led Zeppelin! It was a musical world so different about what I was used (Sanremo Festival, Studio 1, Mina and other "light Italian music"): the arrangiaments so particular, "magic", not standard instruments. It was sung and played the Young comptestation. With them, "we go further".
My land was poor, many Youngs cannot buy their discs: it was friends sensation when I came on in the pullman with a "Tales of topographic oceans" of Yes copy. It was 1973!, new and brilliant, an LP with Roger Dean covers. TV was black&white and Italians make governed from D.C. partie. Then, passion for rock wasn't for all: the more, on Sunday preferred the "Dancing Rooms", another distraction (there were a lot of girls, there!) and their musicians, the work begins to be for all, the families were governed from the fathers.
The rock of those times was meeting place of the Youngs, not almays positive: see the destruction of the "Vigorelli" of Milan at a Led Zeppelin concert (after what they haven't come back on our Country!).
Students occupied the Institutes and Licei and PCI and FGCI (Communist, young and old organizations) organized demonstractions in the squares. There were some disorder.
The Femminists entered in the politic scene and later there was the Abort Law.
I, like worker, while I was working, I was doing certain gnasting while I was playing to myself "Any colour you like", in '73, of Pink Floyd, or "Uomo di pezza" de Le Orme..
In Italy the rock was still marginal... with names like Osanna, Antonello Venditti, Edoardo Bennato, I Pooh, I Nomadi, Little Tony (Italian version of Elvis Presley), Bobby Solo, Patty Pravo, Gianni Morandi. And other!!... With the foreign translations, of the international hits, of course...!
All this Music, then like now, gave me force, energy, "communicate" to me what that "I felt". To me like to all the boys which followed THE ROCK!!
How many do we are?
